“Tata Power has turned out to be the first power service to launch QR code utilities for bill transactions in Mumbai,” Tata Power claimed to the media in a BSE filing at a conference this week.
The company claimed that though this functionality of payments of bill via a QR code has been rolled out in other service segments, it will be rolled in the power segment for the first time by Tata Power in the country. As per the statement, the QR code connected to UPI (Unified Payments Interface) will be reported on the electricity bills. The users with the help of BHIM app can scan the QR code. They can scan the QR code with the help of any other UPI-associated bank app and pay their invoices without any trouble, it claimed in his statement.
The details of the bill will be showed on the app, after which the user can authorize the transaction within couple of seconds and his/her bill will be instantaneously paid to the company. Some of the benefits of QR code amenities are that the user does not need to visit any customer relation center or bill collection or any other payment roads of Tata Power. He/she can make the payment from the soothe of his office/home or on-the-go.
In addition to this, all details of the bill will be captured automatically while scanning the QR code and the user has to pay utilize a single click on his handset. The user also does not require remembering his net banking account or credit/debit or details of IFSC code. “With this move, Tata Power will revolutionize payments of electricity bill in the area. The service will offer more secure payment alternatives to the users and contribute to the fiscal inclusion in the nation,” claimed ED and COO of Tata Power, Ashok Sethi, to the media in an interview at the conference.
