Oculus Slashes Cost Of Virtual Reality Set

The virtual reality firm possessed by Facebook Inc., Oculus, is for the time being slashing the cost of its hardware. The industry is making an effort to find out as to why the tech for immersive stories and games has not taken off amongst users.

Oculus is slashing off the mutual cost of its Touch controllers and Rift headset to $399 for 6 Weeks starting from this week, claimed Vice President for content of Oculus, Jason Rubin. That matches the cost of PlayStation VR, another virtual reality set, designed by Sony Corp. The virtual reality set designed by HTC Corp., Vive, is posted for sale at $799 on its official site, and it has lately slashed the cost.

In 2014, Facebook gave $3 Billion to obtain Oculus and keep hold of its employees. Mark Zuckerberg, the Chief Executive Officer of Facebook, claimed at the time that the device, which gives a 360-degree panoramic sight via headsets, might become a fraction of the everyday life for millions of individuals.

That has not occurred, even though it is not clear if that is due to high costs, something natural in the tech used or some other factor. Costing discounts are most of the times a sign of feeble sales of the product. Rubin claimed top the media in an interview that it was not the scene with Oculus, which he claimed might have slashed the cost sooner but needed to wait until there were sufficient movies, games, and other activities to keep a wide audience engaged.

The speed of game releases has increased, making a broader demand possible, Rubin claimed. He further added, “We are now in a sector where the whole market can be much satisfied.” Oculus has slashed its cost once before in March 2017, lowering it to $598 from $798. In May, Oculus locked the doors of its Story Studio, 2 years after it was rolled out at the Sundance Film Festival, to concentrate on outside content makers. One more setback was a $500 Million lawful verdict in February against Oculus. At that time, Oculus has requested for a fresh trial.
